As a registered broker-dealer, SM is required by FINRA rules and the USA PATRIOT Act to perform background checks on all participants that are granted access to our listings platform.

Please ensure the below fields are completed accurately in order to facilitate approval for access to SM's platform.

How to Digitize Your Photo ID
Here are three methods to help you prepare your photo ID for upload:

Smart Phone
Take a picture of your document using a smart phone like an Apple iPhone, a Google Android phone or a RIM Blackberry phone. Place your document on a plain white piece of paper and shoot it from above with the phone's built in camera. Email the photo to yourself and then save it to the hard drive on your computer.

Digital Camera
Take a picture of your document using a digital camera. Place your document on a plain white piece of paper and shoot it from above. Move your image to your computer using the cable provided by the camera manufacturer or by BlueTooth if your camera has that technology.

Scanner
Scan your document using a scanner. Most scanners have you lay the picture to be scanned face-down on the glass. Square up the photo using the guides that are usually located along the edges of the scanning bed. Close the lid and then follow the manufacturer's instructions that govern your scanner.
